"I'm So #%@* Angry I Could Just Die!"
Written by craig
We've all heard (or said) something like the title line. Well, it turns out there's more than just a grain of truth in the saying.
Some researchers from the National Institute on Aging looked at 5600 villagers from Sardinia, Italy, basically trying to find out if there were some sort of relationship between people who tended to be mean and angry, and the likelihood of heart problems.
Researchers from the National Institute on Aging (NIA) in Baltimore, a division of the National Institutes of Health, found that people who are angry and aggressive showed a greater thickness of the carotid arteries in the neck, a key risk factor for heart attack or stroke, compared with people who were more easygoing. [ ] Moreover, people considered the least agreeable and the most antagonistic had a 40% increased risk for arterial wall thickening.
The more competitive you are, the more selfish and mean, the quicker you die. Apparently, people who are caring, who have a big heart, are more likely to have a healthy one.
This also makes me wonder about something. If antidepressants help you keep your cool. will you live longer as a consequence? If so, then I just may outlive some of my impatient, angry friends. Of course, having a caring heart, I'll grieve deeply for them.
