Let's look at suicide, shall we? What causes it?


Well, depending on who you ask, it could be a number of factors. Ask a teenager why she or he made an attempt, and you tend to get one of three reasons: break-up with a love, school problems, or a fight with the family. What were they feeling? 'Helpless and hopeless. 'Sounds like they just hit a rough patch and got overwhelmed, right?

Well, here's the really BIG problem with that one. News Flash: suicide is NOT a normal response to life problems. If it were, no one would live past about thirteen years. Now, thinking about it . . . yeah, most people find it crosses their minds at one time or another, but maybe one in six or less actually makes an attempt or gesture, and actual deaths are (thankfully) generally rare.
